An operator has disabled billable carrier purchasing platform-wide with the SHIPPING_CARRIER_PURCHASE_DISABLED kill switch. Quoting, tracking and every read path still work — only the step that spends money is refused.
Common causes
- The kill switch was set deliberately during an incident, a carrier outage, or a billing investigation.
- A staged rollout is holding purchasing off until a change has been observed in production.
What to do
Nothing was charged and no label was created — the refusal happens before the carrier is called, so it is safe to retry once purchasing is re-enabled. Contact support if you were not expecting this; it is an operator action, not a problem with your order or address.
